We are a Type 07 federal firearms licensee and a Class 2 Special Occupational Taxpayer. On our licensed premises we may manufacture NFA firearms and we may sell or transfer NFA firearms made by us or by another manufacturer, as allowed by the National Firearms Act and 27 CFR 479.39. Every transfer still has to follow the law in effect on the day it is submitted.

1. What we handle

We do not sell post-1986 machine guns to civilians. A machine gun we manufacture is for government or law-enforcement use only, as federal law requires. Destructive devices are not a catalog item. Agency inquiries go to nfa@tangodowntactical.com.

2. You cannot take it home the same day

An NFA item stays in our possession, or in the possession of the transferring licensee, until the transfer ATF requires is approved and you complete the pickup. Paying for the item, or finishing a website checkout, does not approve the transfer and does not let you possess it.

For a transfer to an individual or a legal entity such as a trust, that process is an ATF Form 4, usually filed as an eForm. Dealer-to-dealer transfers use a Form 3. You will also complete ATF Form 4473 and a background check when you pick the item up. Fingerprints and a photograph are required when the form requires them.

We do not control ATF’s processing time. We will not promise an approval date. A delay is not, by itself, a reason to cancel after the application has been submitted.

3. The federal tax

As of January 1, 2026, the federal making and transfer tax is $0 for suppressors, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, and any-other-weapons. The tax on machine guns and destructive devices remains $200 when a transfer of those items is lawful at all.

A $0 tax does not remove the registration, the form, the background check, or the wait. If Congress, ATF, or a court changes that process, we follow the rule in effect when your paperwork is submitted. We will not transfer an NFA item by a shortcut the current rule does not allow.

4. Who may receive one

You must be legally eligible under federal law and North Carolina law. In general you must be at least 21 to receive an NFA firearm from a licensed dealer. You must be able to lawfully possess the item where you live and where you take possession. A trust or other legal entity must be valid, and every responsible person ATF requires must qualify.

We may refuse a transfer we believe would violate the law or our license. A denied background check means we cannot transfer the item to you.

5. Silencer Shop

Many suppressor purchases are started through Silencer Shop and transferred to us. That path uses Silencer Shop’s kiosk, account, and Form 4 process. Their fees, if any, are theirs. Our fee, if any, is quoted before the form is submitted.

Silencer Shop — Tango Down Tactical

Buying through Silencer Shop does not change the rule that you wait for approval before pickup at our premises.

6. Ordering from us

Email nfa@tangodowntactical.com or call before you assume an NFA item can be ordered. We will confirm that we can transfer that item, the price, our transfer fee, and whether the purchase is through Silencer Shop or directly with us. NFA transfers are by appointment.

We do not ship an NFA firearm to a house, apartment, or other residence. It is transferred to a properly licensed special-occupational taxpayer, or it is picked up here after approval.

7. Items we manufacture

An NFA firearm we build is marked and registered as the law requires for a Class 2 manufacturer. The same transfer rules apply. You do not possess it until the required form is approved. A custom NFA build that has been started is not cancelled because you changed your mind. Our Warranty page covers our assembly. It does not shorten the ATF wait or waive a required form.

8. Cancellations and returns

Once NFA paperwork is submitted, the item is final except where the law requires otherwise or the item has a documented defect. Read the Return Policy. Do not ship an NFA item anywhere. Email returns@tangodowntactical.com and nfa@tangodowntactical.com if there is a problem.

If a transfer is denied, or you do not complete pickup after approval, the item stays under our control or is transferred only as ATF allows. Fees already paid to ATF or to Silencer Shop are not ours to refund. Our transfer fee is not refunded for a denial or a failure to pick up, unless we caused the problem.

9. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for how you store, transport, and use the item after a lawful transfer, including any tax stamp or approved form you are required to keep with it. These are regulated firearms. Safe handling is your duty. Nothing on this page is legal advice, and nothing here is a promise that ATF will approve a particular person, trust, or item.
